To do list

Here is my current to do list of user facing functionality. They are listed roughly in order of priority:

  • Edit earnings entries – allow users to edit submissions – done
  • Favicons in results – in the results screen, show a favicon from the site beside the earnings amount
  • Prohibit month and URL duplicates – if a submission is done for a an existing URL that already has an entry or that month, don’t allow it
  • Delete saved queries
  • Edit saved queries

If you have any other suggestions, let me know.

AdSense Tips

I’m going to write a series of entries about getting the most out of AdSense. Most of the information in here will be familiar to those who have done a lot of reading about AdSense, but some beginners might get something out of these entries, and the more experienced users could always use reminders.

The list of topics that I’ve currently got planned are:

  • Complying with AdSense policies
  • Ad formats
  • Custom colors
  • Ad positioning
  • Experimentation
  • High paying click
  • Ads per page
  • Relevant ads
  • Asking Google for help
  • Alternate ads
  • Emulate success
  • Search boxes
  • Blogging

No guarantees that the topics will stay that way, or of the order.

Look for the first entry within the next few days.

Submit You April Earnings

Now that April is in the books, remember to go to AdMoolah.com and submit your earnings numbers for the month.

Thanks for your support, it’s the information that you provide that will make this site a powerful resource.

Support for Multiple Sites per Earnings Record

I have implemented some support for indicating multiple URLs in a single earning record. When entering a new record there is a new field for the number of sites that these earnings were produced from. We encourage you to enter each website as an individual earnings records, but if your AdSense channels are not set up properly, this is not possible.

When querying, there is now an option to only see the earnings records that do not have multiple websites.

The query results screen now shows if there was more than one website included in that earnings amount. Here is an example of how it will look:

$132.16[3]

This indicates that there were $132.16 in earnings and that three websites were producing these earnings.

I hope all that makes sense. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Multiple URLs Per Account

I just had an email exchange with a user of the site and came to the realization that I hadn’t been giving people the ability to report multiple websites per AdSense account. That is, I was assuming people would report their earnings for each website individually.

I guess I have a couple of options here:

  1. Allow people to enter multiple URLs for a single submission. This also bring complicates the category slection. Should each website be tied to a different category? (And I’ll need to figure out how to show this in the query results view).
  2. Force people to split out there earnings by website. This would provide more accurate results, but it would be a little more work for the users of the site to do.

I would love your comments and suggestion on this.

Ability to Page through Records

We made a (hopefully) useful modification to the site today. It used to be when the result of am earnings query was more than 50 records, only the first 50 would be shown and that was it. Now you have the ability to page through all the records that are returned, 50 at a time.

We also changed the Summary section so that if more than 50 records are returned from a query, the summary of all records retrieved can be viewed via a new link at the bottom of the page.

Thanks to Sasha J. who posted a request for this feature in a comment to a previous entry. We are listening to you, so send your comments and questions!

Updates to Account Information

We have made a couple of updates to the site tonight:

  1. We now have an account maintenance page that allows you to change your email address, password or contact option. To access this page click the “Update Account” link on the left side of the page. You must be signed in to see this link.
  2. We also have a new feature to send passwords or user names if they are forgotten. There is a link on the “Sign In” page for this.

AdSense Heat Map

Google has come up with a neat “Heat Map” to their optimization tips page.

Google AdSense Heat Map

It helps you visualize the best places on the page to put your ads. I like it a lot! Expect to see the position of the ads on AdMoolah.com to change soon ;)
